The workflow

How it works

01

Pick your place

Tap your ecoregion or state. We map the country into 52 ecoregions so seasons actually match your ground.

02

See what's ripe

A live calendar shows which species are at peak, coming into shoulder season, or done for the year.

03

Forage safely

Each species lists its difficulty, toxic lookalikes, and any processing it needs before it's safe to eat.

About the data

Grounded in real observation data

Forage Calendar's seasons come from millions of georeferenced plant and fungus records published through GBIF and iNaturalist, mapped onto US Level III ecoregions. The result is a foraging calendar tuned to where you actually stand, not a one-size-fits-all chart.

Foraging carries real risk. Always confirm an identification with multiple sources and, ideally, an experienced local before eating anything wild.
