Terms of Use and Foraging Disclaimer
Last updated: June 2, 2026
By using Forage Calendar you agree to these terms. Please read the safety disclaimer below carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use this site.
Never eat any wild plant or fungus unless you have identified it with absolute certainty. Many edible species have toxic, and sometimes deadly, look-alikes. A single misidentified mushroom can cause permanent organ damage or death. When in any doubt, do not eat it.
Educational reference only
Forage Calendar is a free educational reference about when wild edible species are in season across the United States. It is not a field identification guide, and it is not professional, medical, or legal advice. The seasonal calendars, descriptions, and photographs are general information, not a determination that any particular specimen is safe to eat.
No identification or edibility guidance
This site cannot identify a plant or fungus for you and must never be used as the sole basis for deciding whether something is edible. Always confirm any wild edible with multiple reputable sources and an experienced local forager, mycological society, or expert before consuming it. Photographs here may not show every feature needed for a safe identification.
Assumption of risk
Foraging carries inherent risks, including misidentification, allergic reactions, contamination, and poisoning. You forage and consume wild foods entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for what you pick and eat, and for the safety of anyone you share it with.
No warranty
The information here is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Occurrence and seasonality data are compiled from third-party sources (GBIF and iNaturalist) and may contain errors, gaps, or regional inaccuracies. We do not guarantee that any content is accurate, complete, or current.
Harvest responsibly and legally
You are responsible for following all applicable laws. Harvesting may be restricted or prohibited on private land, parks, preserves, and other public lands, and some species are protected by state or federal law. Obtain permission and any required permits, do not harvest protected species, and forage sustainably so that populations and habitats are not harmed.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Forage Calendar and its operator are not liable for any injury, illness, loss, or damage arising from the use of this site or from foraging, identifying, or consuming any wild species.
Data and image attribution
Species occurrence and phenology data are derived from GBIF and iNaturalist. Photographs are used under Creative Commons or public-domain licenses; each image credits its photographer and links to the applicable license. Our compiled dataset is offered under CC BY 4.0.
